2023 National Jamboree

The 2023 National Scout Jamboree is scheduled for July 15-29, 2023

and you don’t want to miss the Adventure that awaits…

…the Mid-Iowa Council contingent is planning a 15-day experience that promises to be one of the highlights of your scouting career.  Some education, some great fun and 10 glorious days at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia will highlight your jamboree journey.  Cedar Point Amusement Park, the Air and Space Museum, White Water Rafting and exploring Mammoth Cave are just some of the highlights, and these are all in addition to 10 amazing days and nights at the National Scout Jamboree.

Plans call for 3 troops of scouts (2 male and 1 female) and scouter totaling around 100+ people.  Space is filling fast so we encourage you to register now to make sure you do not miss this once in a lifetime

experience.

Requirements to participate in the 2023 National Jamboree:

· Be at least a First Class Scout no later than June 30, 2023.

· Have completed 6th grade or be at least 12 years of age by July 19, 2023 and have not reached your 21st birthday by July 29, 2023 (for this jamboree only the age limit has been raised from 18 to 21)

· Agree to and participate in a pre-jamboree training experiences and all Jamboree unit meetings.

· Submit a Jamboree Medical Form.

· Have been active in a troop or crew for at least six months prior to July 1, 2023 and be approved by your Scoutmaster or Advisor and the Mid-Iowa Council.

· Agree to make payments as specified and have all costs totally paid no later than May 1, 2023.

To reserve your place in the Mid-Iowa Council 2023 Jamboree Contingent now:

· Complete the registration form.

You also need to complete the National Registration form.

There is no monetary fee on the National Registration site, however, this must be completed before November 1, 2022 to avoid the additional fee included in the Contingent fee.

Your payment schedule:

· When you register pay a $250.00 registration fee. (If you are not selected as part of our contingent your deposit fee will be refunded). 

With the ever-changing costs, especially of fuel, the total cost for participants will be finalized at a later date. We expect our total package to run approximately $2,900.  This fee includes all transportation costs, admission fees, meals and lodging in route to and from and while at the jamboree. The fee also includes special patches, duffel bag, travel bag, and a pre-jamboree training experience weekend. All expenses are included except personal spending money.

If you register after October 31, 2022, the cost will increase by $250.00

While we strongly encourage you to make regular, timely payments, there are several dates that portions of your fee MUST BE PAID by:  September 30, 2022 you must have paid a total of $900.00; By November 30, 2022 you must have paid a total of $1,200.00; by January 31, 2023 you must have paid a total of $1,600.00; by March 31, 2023 you must have paid $2,100.00 and by May 31, 2023 your entire fee of $2,900.00 is due.

If you join the contingent on November 1, 2022 or later these are the required fee due dates and the amounts due.  Money with registration $750.00, November 30, 2022 a total of $1,450.00, January 31, 2023 a total of $1,850.00, March 31, 2023, $2,350.00, May 31, 2023, your entire fee of $3,150.00 is due.

While the initial $250.00 payment is non-refundable and non-transferrable, the remaining $2,650.00 (if registered before November 1, 2022) $2,900.00 (if registered November 1, 2022 or later) while it is non-refundable because of monies we must pay for trip expenses in advance for you, this money can be transferred to another person.

Sunday July 16, 2023 enjoying Cedar Point Amusement Park

Monday July 17, 2023 visit the 911 Memorial in Shanksville PA and Gettysburg

Tuesday July 18, 2023 visit more of Gettysburg and National Air & Space Museum

Wednesday July 19, 2023 spend the morning white water rafting and then move in at the National Jamboree at the Bechtel Summit Reserve, West Virginia for 10 day adventure.

Friday July 28, 2023, leave jamboree and explore Mammoth Cave in Kentucky

Saturday July 29, 2023 visit St. Louis Arch and arrive back home that evening
