Our Challenge Goals
As we approach America’s semiquincentennial in 2026, Mid-Iowa Council Scouts are stepping up to serve!
How You Can Get Involved
Every Scout, every unit, every hour counts! Here are ways to contribute to our America 250 goal:
🏞️ Community Beautification
Clean up parks, plant trees, maintain trails, or create community gardens to honor America’s natural heritage.
🎖️ Veterans Support
Organize flag ceremonies, visit veterans, restore monuments, or host patriotic events honoring those who served.
🏛️ Historic Preservation
Help maintain historic sites, create educational displays, or document local history for future generations.
📚 Educational Outreach
Teach younger scouts skills, lead merit badge workshops, or create resources about American history and civics.
🤝 Community Service
Support food banks, assist elderly neighbors, organize donation drives, or help local nonprofits.
🌟 Eagle Scout Projects
Plan your Eagle project with America 250 in mind and make it part of this historic celebration of service!
📝 How to Log Your Hours in Scoutbook
Visit scoutbook.scouting.org and sign in with your my.scouting credentials.
Click on your Scout’s name, then select “Activity Logs” from the menu on the left side.
Click the “+ Service Hours” button in the upper right corner of the Activity Logs page.
Fill in the date, number of hours, and description of your service project. Important: Include “America 250” in your project description so we can track it!
Click “Save” and your unit leader will approve the hours. Once approved, they’ll count toward our council goal!
